Virtual Visit (Telehealth)

What is a virtual visit?

A virtual visit, or TeleHealth visit, allows an evaluation through the use of video-conferencing. This allows you to connect with a physician and obtain an evaluation without going into the office. A virtual visit is particularly useful for obtaining an opinion from a provider outside of your normal area or for patients who have to travel far to see a doctor.

How do I set-up a virtual visit?

The steps are simple. All that is needed is an internet connection on your phone or computer.

1. Call and make an appointment at 541-608-2595
2. Fill out a patient questionnaire
3. Send xrays and/or MRI for review
4. A few minutes prior to the scheduled time you will receive a text link on your phone or email to a HIPAA compliant secure conference.
5. Follow the link where we will meet and review your symptoms

Why should I have a virtual visit?

Decisions about your health are very important. Shoulder pain is no different. In fact, shoulder pain has a substantial impact on one’s quality of life from simple activities to ability to sleep. You should therefore feel informed and comfortable about your shoulder care.

Many patients like to have a “second opinion” about their shoulder. A second opinion is when another physician provides an evaluation to confirm the problem (diagnosis) or determine if there is another problem that was not previously recognized. This is common practice in medicine and very few physicians object to their patients getting another opinion.

In fact, in today’s world it is common for patients seek another opinion they trust or even travel for their medical care. Many patients for instance have been told that their rotator cuff tear cannot be repaired (irreparable), but we have found that with advanced arthroscopic techniques even many massive rotator cuff tears can in fact be improved with an arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.

What are the costs of a virtual visit?

A virtual visit is billed to your insurance based on standard guidelines. We accept most major insurance plans.

What are the costs if I decide to have surgery with Oregon Shoulder Institute but I am out-of-network or paying cash?

As above, we accept most major insurances. But some patients who do not have insurance or who are out-of-network, pay themselves. In these cases we have set-up a fixed price based on the procedure. This avoids multiple bills and/or surprises after the surgery. This price includes all costs the day of surgery including: the surgery center facility fee, implants and surgical materials, surgeon fee, assistant fee, and anesthesia fee. The only parts not included are a shoulder brace and any postoperative prescriptions.

Cash pricing listed for surgery below includes:

  • 2 week after surgery follow-up
  • A 3 and 6 month virtual follow up visit
  • Direct Access to nurses
